Harry & Meghan wedding details: location, citizenship & the couple’s first royal engagement

Kensington Palace have just released more details about the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, including the location of the ceremony, the actress’ baptism and citizenship and their first joint engagement.

Harry and Meghan have set a date in May 2018 to marry, and have chosen St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle for the ceremony; The Queen gave her permission for them to marry there. They are ‘delighted that the beautiful grounds of Windsor Castle are where they will start their married life’, and is somewhere they have apparently spent a lot of time together.

The announcement also said that the Royal Family will pay for the day and it will be televised for everyone to enjoy. There won’t be a bank holiday however, with Downing Street stating that Prince Andrew didn’t have one for his wedding either; it seems a privilege only for future Monarchs.

This date means that sister-in-law Kate will probably have had the baby, and so will be able to attend.

Ms Markle, who is American and Episcopal, is in the process of getting her British Citizenship, studying for the tests. She of course will be baptised and confirmed into the Church of England to become a member of the Royal Family.

A keen humanitarian before she met Harry, Meghan will join the Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry as a patron after her wedding next year.

The couple have said they are ‘extremely grateful for the warm response’ to the news of their engagement, and interestingly, they want their wedding to be a public celebration. Harry and Meghan are ‘currently working through ideas’ for how the public might be involved.

ENGAGEMENT INTERVIEW FOR HARRY AND MEGHAN

Meghan’s dogs have, however, been permanently separated. Bogart will stay permanently with friends of hers in the States, and Guy the Beagle will be living at Nottingham Cottage with the couple.

Prince Harry and his fiancee will undertake their first official engagements together in Nottingham on Friday at the Terrence Higgins Trust World Aids Day event. We expect them carry out plenty of engagements together around the UK in the coming months, much as the then-Kate Middleton did with Prince William prior to their nuptials.

It may well be that the dog is elderly and may even have health problems that mean a 7 hour flight is not in it’s best interests. I’m sure the needs of the dog came before the needs of the owner.

Not only is the flight long, some countries require the dogs stay in quarantine for months to make sure they are not bringing over with them some type of disease is serious issues. I only hope that the dog is in a great home and loved!

If Megan is episcopal i don’t understand why she would need to be baptized and confirmed again in the church of england. They are both members of “the episcpal union”.

Hi Diane; The episcopal church in the US is a separate church to the Church of England. By becoming specifically part of the CoE, Meghan is showing a commitment to Britain and her role in the Royal Family. It will also please The Queen, I’m sure, to know that the entire family are singing from the same hymn sheet, excuse the pun!
