See Prince Harry and Meghan’s engagement photos

Today, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released their official engagement photos.

The images, released after the Royal Family gathered for a Christmas lunch yesterday, comprise two formal snaps and one candid shot were taken by Alexi Lubomirski  earlier this week at Frogmore House, in the parklands of Windsor Castle.

In the first image, Harry and Meghan sit on the steps outside the house, looking towards the camera. Holding hands, the American actress also shows off her ring. The special piece of jewellery was designed by the Prince himself, with a central diamond sourced from Botswana, and the two flanking it coming from his mother’s collection.

Meghan is dressed in a Ralph & Russo couture gown with a mesh top, embroidered with gold fern leaves. The skirt is full and feather-like, and reports have it that the piece should cost £56,000(!). Harry is dashing in a navy suit.

The second formal image is in black and white, and depicts the engaged couple embracing, with their heads pressed close, grinning.

Meghan’s hand sits on Prince Harry’s face, once more showing off her stunning ring, while she wears a white jumpers, being cuddled into Harry’s coat.

Lubomirski said of the work: “It was an incredible honour to be asked to document this wonderful event, but also a great privilege to be invited to share and be witness to this young couple’s love for one another.

“I cannot help but smile when I look at the photos we took of them, such was their happiness together.”

He is a celebrity photographer and has worked with the likes of Julia Roberts and Angelina Jolie.

These two photos were released before lunchtime, but Kensington Palace said the couple decided to share the final candid image as a thank you to everyone for their kind messages, just a few hours ago.

“The couple are so grateful for the warm and generous messages they have received during such a happy time in their lives,” a tweet read.

Also in black and white, the final photo shows the couple walking hand-in-hand in the gardens at Frogmore, where the Royal Mausoleum is. They look as happy as can be.
