Royal diary: upcoming royal engagements 1-6th July

This week will see The Queen out and about in Scotland for Holyrood week, while Prince Charles and Camilla are heading to Wales for their traditional week of engagements in the principality (Wales Week). The Earl and Countess of Wessex also have a busy schedule north of the border.

1st July:

– The Prince of Wales begins Wales Week. As President of The Prince’s Trust, he will visit their call centre at Nantgarw, near Cardiff, to meet those who help over 72,000 young people getting in touch with the charity over the phone, often for the first time. Prince Charles will also visit Ty’n-y-Coed Forest to meet horse loggers and hand out The Prince of Wales Trophy to the winner of the British Horse Loggers Woodland Management Award; Charles is Patron of The British Horse Loggers.

– The Earl and Countess of Wessex are in Angus. They will attend a lunch at the Mincipal Buildings, Forfar; visit the Strathmore Rugby Club Community Trust; visit the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association; visit Pitstop; visit the Forfar Dramatic Society; and other local businesses and organisations.

– The Princess Royal will visit Somerset. She will: open the new facilities at The Stonehenge School, Amesbury; open the improved Bridleway, Shoscombe, as Vice Patron of the British Horse Society; and visit a Save the Children shop in Bath, as their patron.

– The Duke of Kent will attend the Opening Day of the Wimbledon Championships, as their president.

2nd July:

– The Prince of Wales will visit South Wales Police Headquarters to celebrate their 50th anniversary, Bridgend. He will also visit The Royal Glamorgan Hospital to officially launch the Royal College of Nursing Prince of Wales Nursing Cadet Scheme. With The Duchess of Cornwall, Charles will host an evening of music and drama at their Welsh home, Llwynywermod, near Llandovery – performances by Wynne Evans as well as students and musicians of The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and the newly-appointed Official Harpist to The Prince of Wales will be there. Charles is patron of the college.

– The Duchess of Cornwall, President of The Royal Voluntary Service, will visit the Llandovery Lunch Club to celebrate the club’s 40th anniversary and meet volunteers and members of the local community using the lunch club’s services.

– The Duke of Sussex will attend the first Diana Award National Youth Mentoring Summit in London.

– The Earl and Countess of Wessex will visit the Glenfiddich Whiskey Distillery, Dufftown, Keith, Banffshire; visit the Keith Kilt and Textile Centre, Keith; and also visit Step by Step in Elgin, Morayshire.

– The Princess Royal will open Campus Whitehaven, Whitehaven, Cumbria; open Gen2 Head Office in Workington, as President of The City and Guilds of London Institute; and visit REACT Engineering in Cleator Moor.

– The Duke of Kent, will visit the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition in London as a Fellow.

– Princess Alexandra will visit the Swan Sanctuary and present The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, Shepperton, Surrey. She will also visit the Sunbury Millennium Gallery.

3rd July:

– The Queen will give a Garden Party at the Palace Of Holyroodhouse, Edinburgh.

The Queen will host her annual Scottish garden party this coming week (PA)

– The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit Victoria Park and the Patti Pavilion for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Swansea’s City status, granted to the city in 1969 following The Prince’s investiture as Prince of Wales. Prince Charles will also visit The Morriston Tabernacle Chapel in Swansea to meet members of the congregation and the local community. His Royal Highness visited the chapel during his tour of Wales in 1969 following his investiture as Prince of Wales. As patron of The National Botanical Garden of Wales, the Prince will visit the gardens, meet staff and volunteers and learn more about the charity’s efforts to preserve native Welsh plants nearing extinction.

– The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron of The Carmarthen and District Youth Opera (CDYO), will visit The Lyric Theatre in Carmarthen and watch a performance of songs from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and attend a reception to mark the CDYO’s 40th anniversary. Camilla will also visit Carmarthen Market, and see Richardson’s Bakery, who made the cakes for her wedding reception in 2005.

– The Countess of Wessex, as Global Ambassador for the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, will attend a reception at St James’s Palace. Sophie, Grand President of the St. John Ambulance in the Priory of England and The Islands, will attend a dinner at Windsor Castle. She will be joined by The Duke of Gloucester, who is Grand Prior of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.

– The Princess Royal will open the new Highland Pony Society Headquarters, Aberuthven, Auchterarder, Perthshire. Princess Anne will also visit a Save the Children shop in Edinburgh, as their patron.

– The Duke of Gloucester, Vice Patron of the National Churches Trust, will visit Saint Mary Magdalene Church, London, and the Sarah Siddons Statue on Paddington Green, as Patron of the Heritage of London Trust.

– The Duke of Kent will attend the Wimbledon Championships.

4th July:

– The Queen will visit Gorgie City Farm, Edinburgh.

– The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall will visit the White Rose Primary School in New Tredegar; The Winding House to see the fully restored Victorian winding engine which used to power the lifts taking workers into the mines below, and attend a reception for members of the local community. Prince Charles will also visit the Llanover Estate in Abergavenny and meet members of the local community including the Lady Llanover Society, who highlight the life and achievements of the prominent patron of Welsh arts, tradition and language. He will visit Haley Hanson in Brecon, who creates sustainable leather bags and goods and has benefited from The Prince’s Countryside Fund Farm Resilience Programme.

– The Duchess of Cornwall, President of Maggie’s, will visit the charity’s first cancer care centre in Cardiff.

– The Duke of Cambridge will visit The Royal Marsden as their President, to learn about the psychological support being offered to staff, patients and their families.

– The Earl of Wessex, Patron of the Sport and Recreation Alliance, will visit the Murrayfield Ice Rink, Edinburgh. Prince Edward will also visit Panmure House; The Risk Factory; and attend a reception at the City Chambers, as a Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.

– The Princess Royal, Royal Patron of the Leuchie Forever Fund, will attend a reception at Leuchie House, North Berwick, East Lothian. Anne will also open Clayton Lodge in St Andrews, as Royal Patron of MND Scotland.

5th July:

– The Prince of Wales will visit Yr Ysgwrn, home of the celebrated Welsh war poet Hedd Wyn who was killed on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele. He will also go to Dolgellau Mart to meet farmers who are participating in The Prince’s Countryside Fund’s Farm Resilience Programme; and visit Mallwyd Church to listen to a traditional Welsh Plygain choral service.

– The Duchess of Cornwall, Patron of Silver Line, will officially name Saga Group’s new cruise ship, the Spirit of Discovery, Port of Dover, Kent.

– The Earl of Wessex will hold a reception for young people who have achieved the Gold Standard in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at the Palace of Holyroodhouse. Edward will also attend a Lunch at the RSM Offices as a trustee of the award, before going to Manchester as Patron of Chetham’s School of Music, to attend a concert at The Bridgewater Hall.

– The Duke of Kent, Patron of the Canterbury Cathedral Trust, will visit Canterbury Cathedral, Kent, and attend the 90th Kent County Show in Maidstone, as Patron of the Kent County Agricultural Society.
