A tweet from The Duke of York’s account confirmed the exact date for Princess Eugenie’s wedding, though October was thought to be the most likely month, since September is rather busy in the royal diary.

Mr Brooksbank’s grandmother reportedly told journalists that he and Eugenie had wanted to marry in September, but have had to push it back because of family availability.

Princess Eugenie, 27,  became engaged to Jack, 31, in January, when they were holidaying in Nicargua after almost eight eight years together. He popped the question without a ring, buying one on their return and tweaking it to the Princess’ taste. The ring is made of a salmon-pink sapphire, surrounded by diamonds.

The couple made the news public just two weeks ago, after the pair attended church with The Queen near Sandringham.

The Queen and Duke of Edinburgh were amongst the handful of people to know before the announcement, with Jack asking The Duke of York for permission beforehand.
