The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall visitiedg the cities of Albany and Perth on day ten of the Royal tour Down Under, on Prince Charles’ 67th birthday. During the BBQ to celebrate, the Prince condemned the terrorrist attacks that have taken place in France.
The Royal couple’s day began at Oranje Tractor Wines for a tour of the small winery. Camilla was in her element, as in the UK she is president of the United Kingdom Vineyards Association.
Oranjie Tractor has grown its grapes to an organic standard since 2002, and uses natural growing methods to eliminate the use of pesticides and herbicides.

Charles and Camilla spent the afternoon at the Albany Agricultural Show, which showcases cooking and craft as well as animals. The not-for-profit show runs for two days each November, to promote the argicultural sector in Albany and the surrounding area.
The Log Chop display and the Wool and Craft Pavilion were toured by the Prince and Duchess, before Charles headed to the Wool Display and Alpaca Marquee. The Prince of Wales is a passionate supporter of the use of wool because of its properties and environmentally friendliness, and even spoke with schoolchildren working on a projoect about wool in New Zealand.
Camilla spent time at the Craft and Cooking Display, followed by the Show Jumping Arena; the Duchess is fond of horses.
The National Anzac Centre was next on the couple’s list, to mark the Centenary of the Gallipoli landings. 40,000 Australians and New Zealanders left Albany to fight in 1914, and the centre recounts this story. Interactive, multimedia displays, unique artefacts, rare images and film, and audio commentary make it a personal journey, connecting the visitor with the past.
Charles and Camilla were given a tour after visiting King George Sound, the departure point of the Anzac troops to Europe to take part in WWI. They chatted with veterans too.
The evening saw a celebration of the Prince’s 67th birthday, with a beach BBQ in Perth.
Following the atrocities in Paris yesterday, Charles took the opportunity to offer his condolences to the French people, and asked guests to observe a one minutes’ silence for those affected.
The evening continued on a lighter note, with the BBQ showing off Western Australian produce, and a jazz band entertained the guests.
Charles was presented with a cake, which he cut in the rain.
