Prince Charles has been the Regimental Colonel of the Welsh Guards for four decades, and he oversaw the parade to ensure readiness for next Saturday. It is also the centenary year of the Welsh Guards.

Members of the public are able to watch the review, and packed into the stand at Horse Guards Parade, just down the Mall from Buckingham Palace.

The Queen celebrates her official birthday in June (her real birthday is 21st April) because of a tradition begun by Edward VIII; his birthday was in November, so to give a better opportunity for better weather, he moved the celebrations to the summer.

Chloe Howard, Editor, will be at Trooping the Colour next Saturday, and will bring you photos and updates as they come.
