Date set for Prince Harry and Meghan’s wedding – all the details

A date has now been set for the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle: 19th May 2018.

The ceremony will take place at St George’s Chapel in the walls of Windsor Castle, The Queen’s other London residence, located near Heathrow. Her Majesty gave her approval for the couple to use the chapel, chosen as Harry and Meghan seem to have spent a lot of time there during the 18-months of their relationship.

Harry and Meghan announced their engagement at the end of November, appearing for a photo call in the sunken garden at Kensington Palace, before having an interview inside broadcast later in the evening.

The couple, who of course will not be King and Queen, have chosen the location to have a more intimate ceremony, although they have said that they want the public to be involved in their special day; therefore, we expect the ceremony to be televised.

We also expect Prince George and Princess Charlotte to be page boy and bridesmaid, plus The Duke of Cambridge to be Harry’s ‘best man’. Traditionally Royal men have two ‘supporters’ at their wedding for the same purpose, but Prince William didn’t adhere to this tradition as his father did.

No more information has been released about the day, but we do know that The Archbishop of Canterbury will conduct the service.

It has also been announced this week that the actress will spend Christmas with the Royal Family at Sandringham, an unusual gesture that was not extended to any other royal fiancee. This is likely because Meghan is relocating so far away from home, so the family hope to welcome her.

Will you be heading to Windsor for the couple’s wedding?

Happy day…..will be on my birthday, and I wish them as good as life as I have had for 76 years.
