Meghan won’t have a maid of honour & Prince Louis will not be at the Royal Wedding

With just over two weeks to go, Kensington Palace released more details today about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s upcoming wedding.

Meghan’s parents, Thomas and Doria, will be arriving in the UK next week. Between their arrival and the wedding, they will meet The Queen, Prince Philip, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall and The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. It is thought that this will be the first time Harry has met his future father-in-law.

Thomas and Doria will both be playing a central role on the big day itself. Meghan will travel to St George’s chapel by car, accompanied by her mother. They will meet Thomas at the church, and he will then escort his daughter down the aisle. Harry and his best man, brother William, should arrive at the church on foot.

The Palace also confirmed that the service will include a celebration of the late Diana, Princess of Wales. All three of Diana’s siblings will attend the wedding and one of her sisters, Lady Jane Fellowes, will do a reading during the service. Prince Harry is keen to involve his late mother’s family in his big day, as well as his royal relatives.

Meghan will not be having a maid of honour; it is thought that she did not want to choose between her close friends. Instead, it was confirmed that all of her bridesmaids will be children, although the identities of the bridesmaids have not yet been revealed; it is hoped that this will be announced next week.

The couple’s press secretary also confirmed that their their newborn nephew, Prince Louis, will not be in attendance at the wedding. The family are hopeful, however, that Prince Philip (recovering from recent hip surgery) will be able to attend his grandson’s big day.

Harry and Meghan will spend their first night as a married couple at Windsor Castle, as they are delaying their honeymoon. The future husband and wife will attend an engagement in the days following their wedding, although this engagement is yet to be announced.

We can expect further announcements next week, including the names of the bridal party and updates about the cake and the flowers. The formal wedding photographs, taken by Alexi Lubomirski, will be released in the week following the wedding.
