Royal Ascot debut for William & Catherine… plus Frederik and Mary!

It was the first time at Royal Ascot for The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge today, as they joined The Queen and other Royals for the second day of racing.

Just as the Royal procession arrived at the racecourse, the rain stopped. Crowds cheered and applauded as four carriages carrying the Royal party travelled past the racegoers.

The Queen, Prince Philip were joined by The Duke of Argyll and William Farish, while in the second carriage was Prince Charles and Camilla with Lord and Lady Vestey.

The Earl and Countess of Wessex were accompanied by Crown Prince and Princess of Denmark, Frederik and Mary, and the last carried William and Catherine, and Viscount and Viscountess Allendale.

Princess Anne was also in attendance but did not take part in the procession.

The Vice President and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and his wife Princess Haya, were welcomed into the Royal Box by Elizabeth, as other well-known racehorse breeders.

Many celebrities made stylish appearances for today’s event with colourful outfits and eye-catching hats, from Elizabeth Hurley and Naill Horan, to Ant and Dec and their wives, the latter of whom presented one of the trophies. The Danish heir and his wife made their debut too.

Her Majesty didn’t have any winners, but had a number of horses in the stakes. The Wessexes horse won its race, and Prince William and Kate presented the trophy for the Duke of Cambridge stakes.
