The suspect, aged 40, was arrested earlier this afternoon on suspicion of attempted burglary; she was taken to a south London police station and remains in custody.

Met Police say the woman was arrested at 2.15pm today following the incident on Tuesday, whereby she entered the school premises. It is thought that Prince George – who only began at the school on Thursday – was not in lessons at the time.

A spokesperson for the top education facility said: “We are working with the school, which is attended by HRH Prince George, to review its security arrangements after the incident.

“Police were alerted and officers attended immediately after the issue came to light. Police are part of the protective security arrangements for the Prince and we will continue to work closely with the school, which is responsible for building security on its site.”

A review of the school’s security arrangements will now be undertaken by the Metropolitan Police in cooperation with Thomas’. Prince George’s safety – as well as that of his classmates – is of the utmost importance, and this breach will be taken very seriously.

The future King is accompanied by low-key protection officers whilst at the school, with regular checks being carried out around the grounds.

A spokeswoman for Kensington Palace has said: “We are aware of the incident but cannot comment any further.”
